NZXT Capsule review

Two-minute review

The USB microphone of the NZXT capsule is a fresh face, but welcome in the world of the transmission team that is directed to the Game and Transmission Market. Faithful to other NZXT products, the capsule has a modern design that is available in white or black, and will be launched along with a compatible NZXT brand boom.

The transmission market has existed for some time and there is a large number of USB microphones that are directed to different budgets and aesthetics. The NZXT capsule is available as of September 8 and will alternate for $ 129.99 / £ 109.99 (around AU $ 210, Australian prices and availability to be confirmed), which places it around the same price as the products dear as the Blue Yeti (MSRP $ 130) around the middle of the market. And while the offerings such as Razer Seiren Elite are much more expensive than $ 200, the capsule feels like a premium product, more than many other USB microphones we have tried.

From the unboxing experience, the capsule is well packaged in a foam box installed to protect the product in a way that feels real care and attention has been paid to maintain the pristine microphone. It is not that the capsule is by any delicate medium, almost all construction feels as if it were built from solid metal and has something serious. The chassis has coated in a mate enamel, and no attempt to scratch or hit him against the edge of a table (so that science, of course) left the remarkable dents or eliminated the painting.

There are two dials located on the front of the capsule, one to control the gain at the top and another to control the volume of the headphones at the bottom. NZXT said he wanted the capsule to be accessible and easy to use, so minimalist controls certainly make things easier, but a complaint that we had out of the door is that markers for volume in both dials are almost Impossible to see why mix in the black color of the control knob.

It is easy to ignore this, even if you have not used a USB microphone before the dialing control is the control of most things, turn right is equal to the strongest and turn left is equal to calmer , but it is a design option that feels like it is testing. It is difficult to be elegant to the detriment of practicality.

Martials also feel very well made, with high tactile points for an additional grip built along the side and you can feel a pleasant tension when operated. However, they do not have a fixed range, so if the tours, they will simply continue, be sure to monitor their gain levels if they can move the microphone.

There is a LED light strip around the bottom of the NZXT capsule, but this is not RGB or customizable. That is not a bad thing, since it adapts to the general aspect, and not all the gaming products need striking rainbow lights. Speaking functionally, you can say when it works, and pressing the upper dial (gain), you can manually mute the microphone, which will convert the light red to inform you that it is not transmitting.

You can also get a corresponding NZXT boom arm sold for $ 99.99 / £ 79.99 (around AU $ 150) if you want to change the desktop holder. Raising the MIC away from the desk has its advantages to minimize the noise picked up and move things through the desktop surface. Technically speaking, any boom arm should accommodate the microphone from the capsule, as it uses a standard yarn, as long as it uses the included adapter, but the NZXT model is best adapted to the product.

As regards the recording quality, it is unlikely that you will feel disappointed. The microphone is a unidirectional cardioid that claims to have optimized speech for a game environment by reducing background noise like fans on your desktop computer or laptop. Clarity is beautifully clear and crunchy with very little detectable background interference without any change, so it is obtaining an incredible quality of the box.
