The paleontologists of the Royal Ontario Museum have discovered a fossilized creature of the Cambrian period which is one of the biggest creatures never discovered of this old era. The creature, called Titanokorys Gainesi, had an estimated total length of half meter at the same time where most marine creatures were barely the size of a Pinky finger. The creature was discovered in Kootenay National Park in Canadian Rockies.
The rocks where he was discovered have half a billion years. Titanokorys Gainesi is one of the biggest animals in the Cambrian period ever discovered. It belongs to a group of primitive arthropods called radiates. The creature had multiform eyes, which are common to the radiodontions.
There was also a mouth with a lot of teeth shaped pineapple and a pair of claws under his head used to capture a prey. He swam in the ocean using flaps along his body for propulsion. Titanokorys Gainesi belongs to a subgroup of radiodons known as Hurtiides who are known to have an extremely long head covered with a carapace.
In this group, the carapace was known to take many different forms. One of the main visual elements of the creatures of this type is their gigantic heads that would have made them look like anything more than a head swimming in the ocean. Scientists say that creatures nourished on the seabed using their front members who looked like stacked rakes to bring everything that is captured in the mouth.
The massive dorsal carapace would have been used as a plow. The fossilized scientists studied have een collected inthe Marble Canyon region of the museum’s national expeditions national park. This particular area is rich in fossils and has been discovered less than ten years ago.
